Motor Lifeboat (47ft.)
Self-righting and self-bailing; 47’ 11 7/8” length, 15’4” beam, 4’6” draft; hoisting weight 40,000lbs.; twin 435BHP Detroit Diesel 6V92TA DDEC III engines, with twin 4-blade, 36” diameter/28” pitch propellers; 394gal. fuel; maximum speed 25kts.; 200nm. range at 20kts. with 10% fuel reserve; integrated electronic navigation and boat control system with four control stations (two exterior on flying bridge, and two interior); capacity 4 crew plus 5 survivors; single-chine, deep-V, semi-displacement planing aluminum hull, with aluminum superstructure; six watertight bulkheads/seven watertight compartments.
First CG lifeboat design to incorporate multi-mission capabilities such as law enforcement and military operations. Unlike the 44ft. motor lifeboat, the 47ft. lifeboat is not equipped with an installed fire-fighting pump; the 47ft. MLB does carry a portable P-6 dewatering/firefighting pump. All production version boats of this type built for U.S. Coast Guard service were constructed by Textron from 1997 to 2003 (boat numbers CG47206 through CG47322).
