2011 to date: 
  • Assisting the U.S. Coast Guard Historian’s Office in the cataloging, preservation, and interpretation of historical documents, photographs, and artifacts from the collection of Captain Robert Bennett, USCG-Retired (deceased)

2010 to date: 
  • Historical consultant on restoration and re-equipping of former Ocean City, NJ life-saving station as a living history museum

2009 to date: 
  • Providing free historical lectures on station rescue craft to active U.S. Coast Guard station crewmembers, including the donation of historical photos, drawings, and data for display at each station (Stations Chatham, New York, Sandy Hook, Yaquina Bay, Cape Disappointment, Merrimack River, Barnegat Light, Cape May, and Castle Hill, plus the National Motor Lifeboat School)

Past Projects

2012: 
  • Representative of the U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association to Coast Guard History Program symposium conducted at the Coast Guard Academy by the U.S. Coast Guard Historian’s Office and the Foundation for Coast Guard History


2011: 
  • Prepared nomination of the original 1849 Spermaceti Cove rescue boathouse to the National Registry of Historic Places, on behalf of the U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association and the Twin Lights Historical Society


2010: 
  • Provided voluntary support to the U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Boat Forces, in providing representative rescue craft drawings and photos for display at Coast Guard Headquarters


2009: 
  • Guest speaker and participant on lifeboat and surfboat rescue craft used by U.S. Coast Guard Station Yaquina Bay, Oregon at a local maritime heritage weekend event in Newport, Oregon
  • Provided drawings, specifications, technical information, and interpretative explanatory signage for a replica Monomoy type pulling surfboat and McLellan type boat wagon constructed by the North Carolina Maritime Museum for display and usage by the National Park Service, Cape Lookout National Seashore Unit, Former Portsmouth Life-Saving Station exhibit/museum



2008: 
  • Guest speaker and participant on lifeboat and surfboat rescue craft used by the Bamfield, BC Canadian lifeboat station at their centennial celebration
