Utility Boat-Large (41ft.)

Self-bailing, but not self-righting; 41ft. 3 ¾in. overall length, 14ft. 1in. maximum beam, 4ft. 1in. mean draft at full load displacement; 30000lbs. full load displacement; capacity for 3 crew plus 20 survivors or 4000lbs. cargo; twin diesel engines with twin propellers; 463gal fuel; 23-26kts. maximum speed; 300 nautical mile range at 18kts.; deep-V, hard chine planing hull of aluminum with heated deckhouse of molded fiberglass reinforced plastic over balsa core; total of 5 compartments of which 4 are watertight. Over the period 1973-1978, a total of 208 boats of this type were built by the Coast Guard’s Curtis Bay Yard.
